So BOLS did an article attempting to vilify a site called Miniatures Hobby, and the fact that they are a recasting site. I thought I would throw in my opinion of them. I have purchased from them a couple of times now, and aside from the time it takes to get the items from them, it took a little over a month, their product was immaculate. Even the time that it took I can not hold against them because when I spoke to them about this they said that they needed to make new molds because the ones that they originally had where damaged.
Quality of product:
It is better quality than almost anything I have purchased from Forgeworld, aside from less popular or more expensive stuff on Forgeworld. It will open the window for more people to be using the resin models, but it does open a door of question-ability. It will not stop me from buying Forgeworld items, but it will certainly put a level of desire towards a cheaper competitor even if it is a recasting site.
Is it wrong to want something cheaper? I think not, but this could put people out of jobs and such. I will not say that I will stop buying from them, but I will question it going forward.
The morality of it is something I really consider, and it will probably deter me from buying more often than not, but it is certainly a tempting deal. Has anyone else purchased from them? What where your thoughts of your purchase?

While I am all for saving money, this is a pretty rancid site for wargaming. Chapter House at least designs something to fill in customer needs. This site would be shutdown in no time if it was in the US or EU but since it is in China they will have a tough time doing anything about it.

Agreed with the CH comment, and for that matter any other site that supplies supplemental information. This stuff is nothing new, but you are right, it will take a lot GW to get it shut down in China.

The hard truth of it is that buying from those folks is stealing, and essentially receipt of counterfeit goods. The models they copy are property of Forgeworld and/or GW. Recasting is 100% illegal in the US and UK. These folks hide behind poor international relationships to peddle counterfeit merchandise.
Stop giving your money to criminals.

I agree, I saw an interesting comparison done with some design work a few weeks ago on reddit. The gist of it was that you are paying the premium for the time and effort to learn how to make the design, not the final product same here. I did a purchase to see the quality and decide for my self on it’s legitimacy and I have done that.

Intellectual “property” is a lie, and nothing more than an institutionalised violation of real property rights by government enforced monopolies.

i dont know why everyone is crying over recasting sites. GW has just posted record profits in the last financial year and continue to raise prices. yes its illegal in this country, he is in china and it is not so much, if at all… so he’s not breaking any laws since he is not in this country. all the fanboys running to games workshop to tell them are just making themselves look stupid. the gw general managers are probably thinkin, ‘look what we have created, an army of fiercely loyal followers who will screw themselves over to give us money. we will reward their loyalty with a price rise!’ its silly… I too have ordered from him, and i have also sent thousands of pound forgeworlds way and continue to do so. if he has an item that forgeworld stocks, that i want, ill order off him. if not ill buy from forgeworld. his products are of perfect quality, so to save 66% will be better put to use, feeding me, rather than puttin food on the tables of the ceo’s and general managers at gw in bonus time.
